I've been having issues with my car not starting. It all began when I tweaked the CPS trying to retard the timing. I went to start my car and it wouldn't fire. It usually had a hard time starting when it was cold so I let it roll for about 5 seconds or so. Nothing, checked the plug wires and I was getting no spark to any cylinder, which told me it wasn't the coil. I replaced the TR. That wasn't the problem. I talked to the owner of Showdown which told me it could either be the ECU, TR pack, or CPS. I just bought a new CPS from Showdown and the Haynes manual isn't exactly clear on how to install a CPS and whats needed to be done, unless I'm overlooking a few steps. So I'm wondering if anyone can help me clear the fog on how to replace a CPS correctly. Any helps appreciated, Thanks ahead of time! :thumb:

To start please refrain from using the term CPS, due to the fact 2g cars run Crank Position Sensors & Cam Angle Sensors... while 1g's only run Cam Angle Sensors....You had my brain boggled about your terminology....so 1g only has CAS 2g has both CAS and CPS....and dont say TR pack its either Transistor Pack or Ignitor

How to install a CAS(Cam Angle Sensor...)
1st, Disconnect battery negative...
2nd, Rotate motor to TDC Which means both dowels on the cams face up at 12 o clock and the notches on the cams are in a straight line, as well as removing the number 1 plug and sticking a long screwdriver in there and make sure its as high as itll go...DO NOT ROTATE THE MOTOR COUNTERCLOCKWISE ONLY CLOCKWISE...
3rd, Remove 2 12mm(I think might be 14mm) nuts from CAS, Note which side of the CAS has the little circle on it...It should be pointing straight up I think....but either way just make sure its how you pulled it out....
4th, put new CAS on and tighten nuts
5th, Reconnect battery and try starting....

For 1g's The CAS tells the ECU its getting signal, the ECU tells the Transistor Pack/Ignitor to fire and that in turn fires the coil pack producing spark....

Its easiest to usually to find a buddy with a coil pack or transistor pack, swap them out and check for spark...then the ECU and last but not least the CAS....I believe in starting with the easiest thing and working to the hardest....
