hey guys, ive been gone for awhile since i started college at cal poly pomona. well anyways, ive been thinking real hard on a dilemna. i want to get a 1g awd dsm, always have, but on the other hand my uncle wants to sell me his 79 trans am thats in perfect condition. that car is sweet. honestly what do you guys suggest in gettting? i know alot will say the 1g awd, but give me honest answers. oh and ill have the money to buy either one or the other after i sell my 1.8, so hopefully pretty soon i can get either one. thanks for the suggestions.

1G AWD DSM. For sure.

- In most cases; more reliable.
- Better mileage.
- More potential for less $$$.
- Turbo
- AWD
- Did I mention turbo and AWD?

I agree. Take the T/A. I've got an '81 and the only reason it isn't my daily is Michigan winters...and the rediculously horrible MPG.

Its all about personal preference my friend. A lot of times i will see older muscle cars and hear that sweet rumble of the v8, but then again i love the sound of my turbo with all the windows down. Id say test drive both and go with whichever one feels right. In most cases if you already own a dsm youll probably get another one, thats just how the curse works...Good luck though :thumb:

It depends what sitting under the hood of the 79 and what your are looking to do with either car. Just street driving? racing?

:D

Are U sneeerious?

a '79 T/A Is a "T" and "A" magnet...

a "####YMAGNET" if you will...

It is a true to day musclecar in it's own right, and can STOMP-THE-SHIT OUTTA-MOST RICE in the 1/4

DSM's are disposible training modules, and are now a dime a dozen....

actually about $5k per resonable street dragon.....

find a clean "family handed-down" T/A for that

-even if you dont like the Pontiac.. (Poor-Old-######-Thinks-It's-A-Cadillac)

take the T/A, sell it and buy two or three DSM's (cash........... )

:thumb:
take the T?A

BTW, I'm probably a bit older than some of you, but my first was a 1971 T/A Dodge Challenger 340 6pk, Hurst 4spd on the floor.......... not quite a Hemi, but pretty close if you were a DRIVER

so, what was YOUR first ride?

(Oh, I gotta give it up, the 2nd was a fkn FORD ESCORT... :shhh: )

well i test drove the trans am before and fell in love with it as soon as i drove it, but on the other hand i drove a 1g turbo dsm earlier and fell in love with it too, so i dont know which to go for. i think im going for the trans am right after i sell my 1.8L. dont know what size motor the transam is though, but its quick. i killed a honda accord when i test drove it. btw i love the stares i got from everybody when i drove the transam around town. ;) but im hoping to buy a 1g awd later on though. so i think the trans am is the answer.
