Well this weekend I did some work to my car. Changed the plugs, wires, oil(lucus 5w-30), oil filter, put a knn drop in filter and a 3" turbo back exhuast(ebay special). Now thats all that is done, I feel a huge dif. in the way the car responds. The turbo spools faster, and it just runs better. For the gas milage. I went from right around 20mpg city(when I'm not slaming the gas) to about 28 +- 1. Sorry for the thread but it feels good having a little work go a long way...:rocks:

hey man, don't worry, unlike some guys that spend $700 bucks on a new 16G turbo and feel no difference.;)

What ebay special? I've been eyeing the Megan Racing 3" turboback for ~$500. If it bolted up okay on your 2g AWD and you are generally happy with it, I'd like to know more about it. I'll probably hate the muffler (hate the huge single tip at an angle that EVERYBODY has - I want stock-ish looking twin-tips). But I can always get a better muffler later. I NEED an exhaust...my turbo is strangled at the moment as a result.

Yeah, on most turbo car's, especially our's, freeing up the airflow with intake and exhaust make a very noticeable difference. Even if it is the ebay special.:D It seam's like once you start modding, you can't stop. Modifying car's, or anything else with a motor:rocks:. It's an addiction for me.

I'll have to get back with you when in a little bit. I'm at work and I can't get on ebay. But yet everything bolted up great. I bought a down pipe and a cat back. All stainless steel. It sounds awesome. The down pipe I go it for $49.95 with $40 shipping and the catback was $69.22 and $85 for shipping. But I will get you the links of them as soon as possible.

this reminds me of the time I took the dead cat out of my intake and unloaded the cinder blocks from my trunk, MAN was that an improvement.

I really wished ebay sold a turboback that replaces the cat with a hi-flow cat. I don't know, the idea of running a straight through doesn't appeal to me. I think I'm up for inspection this winter and the last thing I need is to change out downpipes just for it in the cold.

Good to hear that a regular tuneup will make such a difference :)cause sometimes (like someone else said) you can do a ton of work and spend lots of money and feel no difference.:(
PS What kind of plug wires did you use?

Wax adds 46BHP.
I heard stickers, a racing stripe, and a GIANT tach add another 46BHP:D

Im happy with my 3in catback and sounds awesome kenamond 218.00 shipped

same one as the link above but mine was more expensive, but the fitment was great and came with a coupler to neck down to the stock cat so the actual pipe doesnt neck down!

I'd rather pay $250 shipped for a 3" catless turboback (no emissions testing in my neck of the woods), but thanks for the info and vote of confidence for the exhaust.

The only thing I don't like about the exhaust is that it necks down. But as soon as I make the trip to the local muffler shop it will be a true 3" exhaust. I still have the fac. 02 sensor housing but here shortly I want to port that and the exhaust manni out. Then I am going to start junk yard shopping for a 14b.

Does it neck down at the O2 housing or where the DP and catback connect or both?

If it's at the O2, is it the same diameter as the stock O2 housing outlet? I can port the O2 if I have to, and I'd actually rather that the DP inlet was larger than stock so that I could open up the O2 outlet a bit more than I did the first time I ported it.

If it necks down at the catback, I wonder how much it would cost to chop it off, weld flanges on and bolt a 3" flanged section in between the DP and catback.

Why does it have to get so complicated all of the sudden.:(
