I wired all mine to a switch.

for those of you with sunroofs, there are three wires that are wrapped together going into your rearview mirror. One of those wires is a constant 12v and one is the doorpin switch. Test the wires, the doorpin wire will read hot when the door is closed, and ground when the door is open. Tap into the doorpin switch wire and cut the constant 12v, (so the dome light won't come on) but put a lead on it. You can run both new wires under the headliner and down the A pillar right under the dash. This way your neons will come on when you open the doors or trunk, or when you flip the switch on the mirror for your domelight.

I actually ended up using some old blue cathodes I had in one of my computer cases. I mounted them under the dash on both sides and wired them to the wires that controlled the bulbs that were under the dash. Now the cathose come on when the doors are open.

The only thing I dont like is that the lights under the rear-view come on also. I am going to try to find a way to re-wire the rear-view lights so that they don't come on, but I can still turn them on with the switches when needed...

Maybe you should check the definition of RICE. Neon or other illumination mounted below the level of the window designed to illuminate the interior for a purpose (seeing) as opposed to "being seen" like neon a pillars and washer nozzles etc. is not rice.

On sunroof cars the interior lighting is so bad that you have to put neons or something in the floorboard to even see what it on the floor. It worse in the back.

Personally I don't think I should have to carry a Mag Lite around just so I can locate my cd case.

I wired mine up to an accessory fuse with an override switch to turn them off. This way they will only come on when the key is on and the switch is on too. You will have to have someway to cut them off because the glow will reflect off the interior windows at night.

I used 16" purples with zips and some little halfmoon clips that hold them in place. They can not be seen from either seat. and only illuminate the floorboards.

the easiest way for me was to tie off a wire from the cigarette lighter then to a street glow switch, that can turn on, off, or beat to bass. that switch allows me to be able to hook up 18 neons or any 12v things too. comes with fuses and everything. right now i have 2 - 12 inch blues under the seats, and 1 - 10 under my amp. i will be taken pics soon.
