Ok so my car just randomly started going to 13psi boost instead of 7psi like it was. I've only done wires, plugs, and filled it up with 93 octane. Ever since that its been running at 13 not 7, for boost. Jw if its the gas, because I had a friend tell me it could. car is stock besides 2g manifold, and greddy purple top bov. Really don't want to pop my engine if my fuel system cant hold up to it.

I wouldn't worry about it if your car is on the stock turbo. I would think that if something did go bad, that it would happen regardless of whether you were running 7 psi or 13 psi.

I have a faze that isn't hooked up atm, but the factory gauge is what's telling me that its higher. And thanks I just wanted to be sure the fuel system could keep up, and not run lean.

Do a boost leak test. The factory gauge uses the maf meter input, in relation to other factors to compute boost. If there is a boost leak, there is more air going through the meter, than the engine, so the gauge reads higher.

This is why a real boost gauge is one of the first mods to do.

ok ill try and do that Tuesday, I need to change my oil drain tube from the turbo too found a leak in the flex area of it. Might have pulled a vacuum line off changing the wires.

Really? I've always been told its 7, and it was for like a week after I first got the turbo put on. that's why I was freaking out that I was going to run lean. I just got this car running properly after a year of owning it, So I'm still learning a lot.

7 is a little low for a stock 1g but unless you have messed the the BCS or put some kind of aftermarket boost controller on the car you should be around 10psi iirc. Remove the restrictor in the BCS and you can get another 1-2 psi of boost. As was already mentioned in this thread I wouldn't trust the factory gauge to tell me the sky is blue let alone how much boost I am actually seeing. If you want to keep it stock for a while I would just remove the restrictor, hook up your boost gauge and do the fuel pump re-wire. You should have no fear running with that setup

If it was at 7, there was an issue. Stock boost is about 12 or so. You may have had crappy gas before or something.

Actually he may not have had an issue at all, my factory gauge would read 7 when she was having her monthly cycle and sometimes she would be pegged if I decided to drive to the strip club. Those things were a waste, I honestly believe that Mitsubishi put them in there to distract us while we were driving.

Yea the person that owned it before did the vacuum line delete. So if it should read around 12 psi then, right? Ill find out tomorrow though since its my day off, ill hook up my aftermarket gauge and do some other stuff it needs too.

5 speed. Have some issues with the clutch too, but I shouldn't have any issues figuring that one out.

ok, just put a different boost gauge on. It agrees with the stock gauge, guess my gas and wires where that bad... Didn't really cross my mind the old stuff was that bad being that it was all ngk. Thanks for the help guys, letting me know that it was normal to run 12psi with the vacuum delete, it had me scared for at first.
