I think I'm cursed with cars.
I'm lucky to be alive tonite. I was taking the WRX out for the first time in the snow - had been doing well, was having a good time, and was driving around some of the backroads around here - we've got plenty of em. I wasn't goin very fast, about 20mph or so, but at one point, crossed a bridge and there was a turn immediately after - and I'd slowed down to make the turn, but I lost traction, and slid straight off the road... into a creek about 15ft below the road.
The car flipped over completely, and landed resting on the drivers side, in the water. I managed to climb up out of the car from the passengers side. I was kind of in the middle of nowhere, so I was lucky there was a house right across the street - he let me use my phone (my cell phone disappeared in the accident) - called the cops and my insurance company, while he let me use his wood stove to try to dry off the icy water from my clothes - it helped a lot. The cop and a wrecker eventually arrived to pull the car out - I just got back only a few minutes ago, after about 4 hours, and having to help the COP get out and helped him put chains on his tires.
It's been a long nite, and I'm probably out one fresh WRX. But, I've learned a lot tonight - mostly, that I'm very, very lucky. Lucky to be alive, lucky to not be hurt (aside from a bruise on my arm), lucky to have found a kind soul who was willing to help me. Too bad I can't be more lucky with cars.
Sorry for the novel, but I figured I'd share my night... : :thumbdown

I'll see if I can take some if I go out to see it at the lot where it was towed too.... it's not pretty.
