welding rear axles cups

I was wondering what if someone welded the 3 bolt axle cups? I know its not the smartest idea cuase of soemthing breaks the whole thing would need to be repalced, but till then would it even work? i don't see why not. let me know what u guys think

I'm confused as to why you are wanting to weld the cups together? What are you trying to accomplish?

not the cups together. The 4 bolt is stronger because of thicker axles, 4 bolt isntead of 3. but i was wondering can u just weld the 3 bolt cup. as a cheap alternative to a 4 bolt?
