I've got a catalytic converter that is 409 SS that I'd like to weld on my 304 SS flanges. Any idea what kind of filler rod I should use? I have access to both MIG and TIG through the machine shop at the school, but I'm not sure what I should be using to weld the two. Google searching hasn't resulted in anything so far. Thanks.

I can't pretend to know, but if you can't get any info here, they have a lot of good welding/DIY info over on www.turbomustangs.com . At least that's where I go when I have a welding Q.

I haven't looked over there too much, but I haven't found anything there so far either...
