The last few day i've noticed that my walbro 255 has been kinda screeching a little bit on top of its normal whine. It almost sounds like a loose belt under the hood would sound like only not as loud. It is not rewired. When i first noticed the noise it was only at idle and if i reved it up it would stop which kinda lead me in the direction that it needed to be rewired but now it makes this noise all the time no matter what rpm's i am at. Is the pump on its way out? Its only about 2 years old and has less than 10,000 miles on it. I also have a low rpm knock problem until the car warms up and i lose fuel pressure as soon as i shut the car off i am not sure if any of these things have anything to do with each other but any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

get a new fuel pump pickup/sock from www.extremepsi.com

they consider it a walbro "install kit" it comes with all the install parts. Its like 20 bucks.

My pump started to do that also before, the sock on the end of the pump was so gunked up with crud,it was restricting flow to the pump, and the pump wasnt feeding the fuel it should. My car was to the point where in boost,it wouldnt go past 5500 and it would just lean out real bad!Get on that asap

also another thing to do is,the metal line comming from the top of the fuel pump sender to the pump, and little o ring, cut off the sender ,and run a fuel injection hose from the top of the fuel pump outlet,to the rest of the sender unit tube...this insures no leaks, and no fp loss, ofcourse hose clamp both sides

I too have a noise comming from my Walbro 255 puel pump, however is sounds like it is a different sound than the one you are having. My pump is making a howling noise that vibrates the tank a little. this seems to only happen when I am starting the car or shutting it off. One thought is bearring howl or something pressure related and is leaking out a hose and making a noise. I was just wondering if anyone else has experianced this problem.

BTW It has been rewired and I have been running with it for about 10K miles since then.
