weird sound ...... timing belt cover

My car makes a really wierd noise for a few mins when its cold. I couldnt figure out what it was but knew it was coming from the timing belt region. Well I just decided to press against the timing belt cover and sure enough it went away. Now, I have a 2gnt (420a) so if I press on the timing belt cover, towards the valve cover it goes away. I think its the cam gear rubbing on the cover. I only see one bolt and it is tightened. Anyone have any ideas????

Im not familiar with the 420a, but I know on the 4g63 there is very little clearence between the timing cover and all other components in the area. Its very possible that your t-belt cover is just warped a little and rubs slightly on a pulley.

There was a 2GNT at a meet I was at this last Saturday (SonySlave on here) with the exact same problem. It was the cam gears rubbing on the timing belt cover. I'm not sure exactly how he's going to get it fixed, but you can try PMing him about it and searching on the 2GNT web boards.

check your belt. make sure theres no damage to it

Take the cover off and run the car. See, it the belt wobbles left right an insane amount. Also, look inside the cover and see if there is major scraping on it.
