hey guys.. i was driving home from school when i felt this strange vibration.. it vibrated more as the rpm's went up... so i skimpered off to the side of the road, where i popped the hood while running, and low and behold, i hear this strange clanking noise... i immediatly shut the engine off and tried to check it out... nothing... started it back up again, and the same stuff happened....i dont know what it was... it started after i pulled out of wawa parking lot i think.. .. i lost my wallet, and just found it out, so i was kinda mad, and jerked it out of the spot in reverse.... got on the bypass, and it started vibrating....
got it home and when i removed the timing belt cover, i noticed the front balance shaft belt was torn to shreds. replaced the belt, and started it back up and i got the same sound coming from what sounded like behind the front case.
i then took the valvecover, the oil pan oand the crank case off figuring it was problably balance shaft bearing related. The bearings look absolutly fine and i have now replaced the rear balance with the stub shaft. Im kind of nervous to put it all back together, and im not sure if i fixed the problem or not. I checked for crank play and i have .005"... any suggestions of what else to check??
PLEASE HELP!!!
