Hi guys, whats going on!!
Well I search for this but didn't find anything, so here is goes.
Has anybody with an aftermarket exhaust experience a wierd and high pitch noise when driving over puddles of water?? This is the second time that has happend to me. Today on my way to work, I drove over 3 or so puddles of water. The ones that form on the side of the roads after a heavy rain. Well, upon going over this water, my exaust started to make this very loud and high pitch noise. I must admit, the noise is kinda scary. It went away after I stopped on the street lights. It never happend before I got my 3inch exhaust.
Is it because of the diameter of the pipe? Not having a cat? straight pipe?, exhaust pipe suddenly cooling with the water? Or is it that when I drive over the water, the force of the splash causes the exhaust to move and the flanges start to rub on the driveshaft? If thats the case, then why does it stop after I come to a complete stop. Of what I know, the noise will continue if I continue driving.
Sorry guys if I can't explain it clearer. Heck! it even confuses me alot. I know that it does happen when I drive over a big area of water at a over 45 miles or so. Anybody with some thoughts and opinios are very welcome.
Thanks
jorge.
