Hey guys!

A few weeks ago my clutch master cylinder was leaking so I had it replaced (with a brand new OEM one) at my trusted mechanic, however, a few days after I got the car back, something weird has happened. The clutch pedal was way too soft but after a few pumps it goes back to normal. The system doesn't seem to be leaking, the reservoir is all the time at max capacity. Took the car back to him, he flushed the system and it seemed to work... for a few days. Now it's back again. Anybody got any idea what it could be?

Thanks!

Sounds like air is in the clutch line and it needs bled but your mechanic should've done that. This never happened before the master cylinder was replaced correct?

system hasn't been bled and adjusted properly.

You can do it yourself very easily. I'll post a link if someone doesn't beat me to it first.

i'm not saying this is YOUR issue, but i've seen a few master cylinders be bad. We had a 2g in this past week and threw in a new master cylinder and had the same issue, we adjusted it perfectly drove it around, then the costumer would take it home and be back 2 days later and would have no pressure in the pedal. And of course we thought the same thing, that there was air in the line. Well long story short this happened a few other times and ended up just replacing the master cylinder again. And never came back. So possibly a faulty master cylinder... ?

Jackstransmissions.com has a very good video on clutch adjustment and proper bleeding procedure

I've been using the car more often this week (every day, as opposed to every weekend), and the problem seemed to go away, at least until today. I drove it on the highway (not over 75mph at any moment) and it happened again. :/ This thing gets more and more confusing the more I look at it.

Just a hypothesis, I was reading around here that crankwalk could cause weird stuff to the clutch... is it true? Could that be the problem? I hope not...

Sure can, take a few sweeping left hand turns above 5k then shift, if your clutch problem comes back shortly after doing so I'd check for crank play
