I am having a weird issue that involves the clutch. I would have searched, but I wouldn't even know how to search for this... When I engage my clutch as the rpm's go up and when the clutch isn't fully engaged yet, it starts doing this bumping/pulsing thing, you can feel it in the whole car. It does it mostly when going in reverse, big in reverse and does it in 1st gear when there is more of a delay and a load, like when starting after being stopped on a hill... I don't think it is the clutch itself though because it doesn't really seem to slip. I heard of a test where you put it in third rev it up to about 1,500 and let go of the clutch and if it doesn't stall you have a bad clutch, but I stalled and my clutch doesn't really seem to slip. Any ideas on this?

how does your engagment of the clutch feel? Does it feel like its grabbing at the right time? It could be that your fork is going out on you. What kind of clutch do you have? OEM or Aftermarket?

Whenever I had that problem with a car shuddering on clutch engagement, the clutch was on its way out. It may not slip now but it will in the future if that is the problem.
Your parts list says that you will be getting an Evo3 16g, so you're probably going to want to upgrade the clutch anyway if you havn't already.

This same thing happened in December (before I started doing anything with this car, was just a normal stock car at that point)... It was doing the same clutch shudder and one day it got so bad that when I would down shift or boost would hit (any suddent jolt) it would shudder and slip like crazy. It wound up being something else, I didn't really understand the invoice so I never understood it really. I'll post exactly what they said on the invoice...

"Check Clutch
Clutch Shutter
Found all but one trans to engine
bolts missing or loose rear bracket
cracked and drive shaft inner joint
bad
Install bolts and replace rear
trans bracket"

Maybe someone could help me out with what this means....

Also, for a long time my car has been making a little chriping type noise when ever I engage the clutch or a sudden load is put on the drive train (like coasting and then hitting the gas again). It is a short little metallic sounding chrip.

Basicly what they said was that all but one of the bolts that hold the transmission to the engine were loose or broken. Then from the extra movement the rear transmission bracket was damaged. The inner drive shaft joint was bad from either old age or was helped along by the transmission movement.

As far as the chirping noise it's really hard to say anything without actually hearing it.

Do you think this could be happening again, this was exactly how this problem started.. but I don't see how this could happen again. It was only December and this car is no where near a daily driver.. also hasn't been to the track yet..

Well the only real way to rule it out would be to crawl under the car and check. Also while you are under there you should check for cracks in your bellhousing. It could be that there is a crack and when you push in the clutch it expands causing issues.

I've been reading about crankwalk.. could it be this?? I'm getting scared... what else would happen with crankwalk??

Just put it on the lift today to check for crankwalk.. There is no play at all, very tight.. makes me feel better.. Realized it was the clutch also because when idling when I pressed the clutch pedal this rattling noise would stop.. It seems like it is the TO bearing, but whatever it is it doesn't matter as long as it's not crankwalk. I am buying a new clutch kit anyway and posted another thread on what clutch to get, feel free to reply..

Ever looked at your flywheel? A bad clutch can chew up your flywheel, which will cause stuttering and other nasty stuff when you try to engage your new clutch. It also leads to short clutch life......

When you replace the clutch don't be surprised to see this either. When I bought my car I thought it had a bad TOB. Turned out to cost me a little more LOL.
