I have a 95 TSI AWD and lately i've been having this weird noise near my cams.

You only hear it when you rev it. The noise is there as soon as you rev and gradually goes away up the RPM band.

It sounds like it's coming from the exhaust cam towards the gear. I'll film the sound tomorrow but it sounds like when you roll your "r". I was thinking cam bearing (which is the head ) or maybe just a bad cam or something.

Any ideas? I also get this weird noise right around 3,000-4,000rpm. Sounds like rattling also. Balance shaft bearing maybe?

I know it's definitely not rod knock or anything. It's right at the top, it sounds like it's coming straight from the exhaust cam.
