weird breaking up issue

so i am not new to dsm's by any means but lately i have been having a breaking up issue i cant seem to chase down. when i go full throttle in the car it sometimes runs great and sometimes runs bad. the car just spits and sputters and my wide band reads rich when it does it. i thought it was my plug wires and replaced them with msd plug wires with no success. i have brand new plugs also. bpr8es gaped to .026 to be exact. i wouldn't think the coil pack or power transisitor would be a intermediate breakup but at the current moment that's what im leaning towards.

have any of you had a issue like this before???

I worked on my friends car that did something like that, he had a 1g. The car wold run fine and pull hard, then for no reason the car would run like crap and run rich. We did the same, change the plugs and wires. No change. Ended up finding out that it was a combination of both the coil pack and the power transistor. The coil pack was not getting a good enough ground, he had moved it. The power transistor was also weak. We tested the power transistor with a hair dryer. You heat it up and if the car stops running right, its weak. If you do heat your power transistor, DO NOT USE A HEAT GUN!!!! The air coming out is way to hot and will melt the housing.

Hope this helps! Make sure that all your sensor are in order also, water temp sensor and knock sensor. If the knock sensor is going bad that could effect the performance.

When it happens do you feel the car bog down or kick?

thanks for your personal input man. im having the issue you described. my coil pack is relocated. think i have a pic in my gallery of where its at. im going to run a ground wire to it and swap out power transistors and see what happens...

btw my knock sensor is brand new!

alright i figured it out. it was my throttle cable arching against my coil
