you dont have to be under the influence to kill someone and their family.
Some studies have found that it actually makes (some) people drive more carefully.
The only reason I could see that happening would be because they are trying to be more careful, being fully aware that their senses are impaired.
I think that driving while impaired in any way is retarded. Actually, I think drugs and alcohol are retarded period, so I may not be the best person to ask about the subject.

EricHow can that guy be a regular user and not have ever driven while stoned before? That makes no sense.
That was not a ligit test at all. One joint isnt enough to do shit.
MeI work on a federal installation as access control. While it is my job to spot and report problem drivers for whatever reason (i.e. drunk, high, expired tags, no DL, etc.), naturally we can't catch them all. My line of logic has always been, the ones that are high don't worry me HALF as much as the ones that drive drunk. Sure, both are impaired, and both have a delayed reaction time. But in my experiences, the few times I drove high, I can say I was doing 35 in a 40 thinking I was FLYING down the road. I signaled 9 bazillion miles ahead of my turn and started slowing for a red light 3 blocks early. Obviously not all people are wimpy paranoid drivers like me when they're high, but the vast majority of my fellow pot heads at the time were. Conversely, just about everyone I witnessed driving drunk, whether at work or out and about, always seemed like they were having a tough time of it.
Long story short, make it legal, and if it makes everyone feel better, make driving high the same offense as driving drunk.![]()
Eric
you dont have to be under the influence to kill someone and their family. accidents happen all the time, but not all are linked to being under the influence. and yeah more than likely more are, but like i said, not all the time.
There were 16,885 alcohol-related fatalities in 2005 – 39 percent of the total traffic fatalities for the year.
Drugs other than alcohol (e.g., marijuana and cocaine) are involved in about 18% of motor vehicle driver deaths. These other drugs are generally used in combination with alcohol (Jones et al. 2003).

does it really have to get locked. it would make an interesting discussion.
