So my car had been leaking coolant slightly and i noticed some noise near the waterpump. Well I moved to a different time and I had to drive it all that way, I checked the coolant but when i got the car there, it started making a terrible waterpump noise.

The car died, I'm thinking the bearing in the waterpump went, because it barely idled.

Am I right?

Also, it smoked and smelt very burnt and upon a start it got smokey.
Any ideas?

your best bet would be to replace the water pump atleast.. if that dosent fix it then go from there.. but where was it leaking.. can you be more specific

Smoking out of exhaust or in the engine bay? What kind of water pump noise (grinding, sliding, wearing, etc.)?

You can take the belts off (since you'll need to anyway if you're replacing the water pump) and see if the water pump pulley spins freely. It should not feel resistant or hard to turn at all. If you can get it to idle, can you see the water pump pulley spinning with the belt? Does it squeal?
