I searched and searched but cant find what Im looking for.I got the front timing cover off,so do I have to remove the cam gears to get to the water pump?It looks like the rear timing cover needs to be removed in order to get to the waterpump bolts. Is there any tricks to take off the waterpump without having to remove the timing gears?

I got the WP and back cover off,now I'm having trouble with the crank sprocket.I see it has threaded holes.Do they make a specific tool to remove the crank sprocket in order to change the seal behind it?

from what I've read, even with the puller, they are almost impossible to get off without drilling and tapping bigger holes.I was thinking of just cutting it off and just getting a new one.Any Ideas on the best way to cut them off?

I use a puller (had some stubborn ones, but haven't been thwarted yet). Some do just go with breaking off the gear and buying another. I understand that they are pretty cheap (around $15).

Edit in: BUT wait a sec, wait a sec!! Why are you pulling that gear anyway?! You shouldn't need to for a timing belt or water pump

I've never had that problem, and I've removed a fair amount of these gears.

I think he wants to replace the front main seal.

when I took off the timing cover,it looks like the crank gear was slinging oil all over the place. It did always leak allittle oil from the bottom of plastic cover.I picked up a seal for behind the gear, and I also have a couple o-rings in the seal kit that I'm trying to figure out.

If you post them up with a "known size something" next to them, I bet we can identify them. I'm thinking one is for between the oil pump and block, maybe the other is for the oil pump pick-up?

When I did mine I was of course rebuilding the engine. So I had the head off. And it was super easy of course. But then you have to factor in new bolts and gasket. But I always see people just reusing them. But not me! Don't wanna take a chance.

I bought the seal kit basicly for the crank seal, because of the heat I put on the pully.the ones I cant figure out are(oil pickup tube o-ring,oil inlet to block seal, oil filter adapter o-ring)Do any of these go somewhere by the timing belt?

Yea for me :applause: I got them without even looking at them, LOL (except the oil filter O-ring).

Nah, you won't use any of these for the crank seal job. The pick up tube seal is inside the oil pan, the oilfilter seal goes between the part that the oil filter screws into and the block, and the oil inlet to block seal goes between the oil pump and the block.

Of course you would be smart to hold onto these, just in case.
