Water/Moisture inside stock aircan

Hey guys. I blew the clutch on a 91 GSX that i bought two months back. While I am taking this apart I noticed that there is a lot of things rig up, washers missing things like that. I could tell the car was kept clean but not taken care of you know? When I bought the car the under body wasn't in the best looking condition but i wanted it anyway. I am at the point where i am sanding down every part i take off the car and R/O spray painting it. My question is why is there rust on the inside of my stock aircan. I don't think there is suppose to be water/moisture.

Well it is almost impossible not to get moisture in there. Rain, snow, carwash makes alot of mist and your car takes that in and you aircleaner soaks up most but some does go into the motor.

anything left with exposure to the elements will rust, im assuming its just surface rust. just go out and get an after market intake with a cone filter. also just to be safe check the inside of your intake pipe, is there rust stains in that?

there is surface rust every where it's just starting. So it's kinda good i had to pull the clutch because it led to me doing all this work before it got worst

better catch that rust soon, that how my old nissan was. it was from new hampshire. there is a 2g mas with pipe for 50 bucks right now on the classifieds.
