Water in engine

Long story short. I used to have the 2g that is in my profile. I sold it this past winter. A couple weeks ago I drive out to Pennsylvania to buy the 1G that i currently own. An 8 hour drive to find that the car was not quite what I thought it was. I buy the car still and take it home. Finally got the engine pulled over the holiday break. Take the head off and find this!

Yes there is sap all over the car and along with about a half inch of pine needles in the engine. Engine had no exhaust manifold on and the intake manifold was just resting on the studs. So a valve cover bolt was just chilling out with the piston. Along with a lil mud and some rust. I turn the engine over and about an inch of water fell into the 5 gallonbucket that was under the stand.

My question is what should be my course of action to take on this motor? On my 2g I completely rebuilt the entire engine, and I don't want to really do that just yet to this one. Is there anyway to make sure the piston rings and everything else is ok inside the block without tearing it completely down?

PS - Man I got screwed over on this. But its a very clean car. With only some rust on a couple of the brackets in the engine bay.

Looks like you'll need a machine shop and rebuild her :/.

Looks like it needs bored and honed and a new set of pistons and rings.

I would bet rust and gunk have locked the rings into the piston.

Yes I was afraid of that. Any other opinions?

Yes get the block milled also, the rol-lock used to clean the HG surface ruined it IMHO

just look into getting the head machined as well by the looks of the condition of the cylinder walls.
