Ok I have a question. In my turbo setup (see pic) I have the top port on my wastegate plugged. From my understanding it it supposed to be open in order to vent properly. With it being plugged, will it act as a sort of "boost controller" since the air trapped inside would have to be compressed, requiring additional PSI? Just curious.... and are there any PROS or CONS to this setup?

In all honesty i am not totally positive, but from my knowledge you should be keeping it open. It shouldnt allow more boost than the spring is set to. I would assume you have a MBC, and unless you have serious engine work, you shouldnt be pushing more than 8-9 psi. The wastegate will release the air at a given and desired PSI, and which it has a max. It is not designed to work as a controller.

What "set-up" are you referring to? Keeping a wastegate plugged or unplugged is not really a set up.

ok well i have a MBC but it is not installed. My question wasnt really answered however, SLOWBOY why exactly is it bad?
and bluefire, i realize how wastegates function :|, i just wanted to know what effect, if any, this would have on my "boosting ability".

also i have a 6lbs spring but boost tops out at 8lbs, so i was thinking that this can be the cause...in case you guys were wondering why i am asking. Not trying to be a jerk.

Unplug it. In all honesty, I don't remember what it's for... what I do recall is that I had a friend who turbo'd his 420a (he screwed up so many things) but the car wouldn't boost properly with that port plugged. Take it off and give it a shot.

It should not be capped. Leave it open to atmosphere.:ohdamn: I'm not sure what symptoms it would cause having it capped off, but I do know it should be left open for how you are using it. It will not work correctly like that so uncap it and forget about it.;)

Alrighty thanx guys. I will unplug it. Right now :D one more thing...I never HEAR my turbo spool anymore. It just hits between 3.5-4k. I used to hear it, now i cant. Any suggestions? :hmm: (not that its a big deal, just a sweet sound....)
