I was driving hard on the interstate and at WOT car bogged out started blowing tons of black smoke, tons and limped to my friends house. He hastily took turbo off. Turbo is OK. MAP sensor code came up. I stupidly bought one without any other tests and did not fix.

I think it is a wastegate problem.

Can anyone explain why the car blows tons of black smoke and has rough idle when the actuator arm is connected to the flapper valve shaft. I just want to know why the car is running so rich. I assume the actuator is stuck closed becasue this does not happen when the actuator is disconnected and dumping excess pressure.

The solenoid tested fine.

I'm talking barely idle and tons of unburned fuel.

Any other ideas? I honestly have no idea what I'm doing.

I'm driving a N/A car now :(

HUZZAH! Boost leak test should be in order!
You're not boosting when the arm is connected. Basically as soon as you pressurize the intake, a giant leak is happening somewhere and it's causing you to run rich. Find the leak, you stop the black smoke.

I would guess you blew off an intercooler pipe. Do a boost leak test.

It sounds like the turbo is sucking in air through the MAS and leaking out the intercooler pipe at idle, more air than the engine is ingesting. When you remove the WGA arm from the flapper it lets the flapper blow open and slow the turbo down. This makes less air flow through the MAS and the car will run slightly better/not as rich. The wastegate isn't the problem, just affecting the problem in a roundabout way.
