waste gate options

I am replacing my wife's turbo on her 94 TSI. The stock turbo waste gate took a nose dive and is dead. I am looking at replacing the turbo with a t3/t4 turbo charger with dump. I was wanting to know what is best, an external waste gate or one that i made on the turbo?
I will not be doing much more modifying then that to her car, shes got enough power ... any ideas, and prices would be great.

What happened to the wastegate exactly? If the actuator is shot, you don't need to replace the entire turbo.

If your not looking to modify the car any more, a larger turbo would be a bad idea. You'll just add lag and risk damaging the engine from lack of supporting mods. A quality T3 setup can easily cost over $1k. A external wastegate with the stock turbo could cost over $500. A used stock 14b turbo in good condition is worth around $200.

So if your not trying to build a race car, I would suggest repairing or replacing the turbo and sticking with the internal wastegate.

force performance makes internal wastegates. also you can do just a plain external wastegate and then you have turbosmart, tial, and hks

If you need a stock DSM wastegate actuator there are some in the classified section, which would be much cheaper than replacing everything only to achieve the same performance.

I replaced the turbo altogether the waste gate on the turbo itself was stuck open. Got a new God speed 16g.. I have to fix the oil issue then move on to check everything else. however I did no use this morning when starting the engine after installing the new turbos and downpipe the engine would run for a few seconds then shut off. so now I have to try and resolve that issue 2. any ideas would be helpful.

check the mass airflow sensor or the blow off valve idk if the 16g requires using the stock blow off
