I had a question about this temporary fix. I have read up on it and it only says add a shim, but doesnt say how much. Heres my problem the tob doesnt hit the pressure plate untill the clutch fork hits the inner bellhouseing. I took the fork off and it looks worn but not bad really. So how many washers would I need to add to get the tob to hit the pressure plate at the half way mark like its souppossed to.
I really dont wanna put some in and be way off and have to keep pulling the tranny to see if i got it right so if i knew how to guess right that would help.
Thanks for any help,
Jeremy

Seems stange that your so far off. You should already be near the middle. Realistically you can only put an 1/8" thick washer under the pivot, maybe a little more. Any more and the pivot ball may not have enough bite to stay in.

I think im so far off because I have my clutch adjusted as far as it would go and it was still not wanting to go into gear right, then i replaced the clutch and didnt put the tob retaining clip in so it shattered my clutch after about a week so it definatly shows wear, i wanna do this first to make sure if i buy a new one it will definatly fix my problem.
Thanks,
Jeremy

I am not saying this is the problem but did you check for shaft play (aka crankwalk).

Are you absolutely sure you have the TOB on right this time? Is the tranny snugged up against the block correctly?

It has to be something along that track. Maybe you got the wrong TOB and it isn't tall enough...

Crap double post sorry all.

Ok I went out and put in three washers and it seems to be fine now. Its alittle cold here so Im going to finish putting it all together tommorrow, but i put them in and bolted the tranny up to the motor then pushed on the clutch fork and right before the halfway mark it hits the pressure plate and I cant move it with my hand so that must have fixed it but I guess I will know for sure tommorrow.
Thanks

I have a question about this pivot ball washer thing, i've never dealt with a tranny before but i saw the pick in diamond start motorsports of the fork and the pivot ball, the washers that need to be added will go where you will put any other washer in another bolt correct? Between the bolthead and the place is screwing into? Thanks

ok i did this trick and it worked for about 2 days then I had to replace the fork and pivot ball. If you think this trick is going to help you, save yourself the time of pulling the tranny twice in the same week and just replace the worn parts, its only like 50 bucks.
