are you guys using the walbro 255 fuel pump in your tank with the hahn kit that supplies an external fuel pump? if so, what car do you order it for? i saw it for an Avenger on Howell Automotive and saw another for a neon, but i am not sure if it will bolt right up? thanks

By the way, if you get a Walbro, you shouldn't need that inline pump anymore. I would just eliminate it.

Yup...just get rid of the inline pump. Get a Walbro 255lph pump for 95-99 DSM. You can find them for just under $100 shipped nowadays :thumb:

The Walbro for the 95-99 GS-T works and only requires the slightest modification to the bracket(just have to drill a new hole).

no problem, good luck :thumb:

you can get a brand new Walbro 255lph pump for under $100, why try and cheap out anymore than that for some kinda deal...not like we're talkin bout thousands of dollars here.

I'm not certain but if I had to say, I would say no. On ExtremePSI.com they have the product split up for eclipse 95-99, so I would assume there is a difference.

Xavier is right, they're under $100 new, and fuel supply/system is not something you want to cut corners with.

no only reason i say that is because i already have one from a 1g and it would be nice to use it rather than get a new one

well after looking at the photos in the chiltions guide book, they do have two different diagrams for the fuel pump install, and they do look different. But thats just my .2

I noticed the difference in the fuel pump brackets in the Chiltons, but it looked like the pumps were the same. But when I looked at ExtremePSI.com, the little black rubber piece is different for the 1g models than it is for the 2g models. How important that is, I can't say.

I was just tryin to make a point...I payed less than $100 off ebay for mine shipped all the way up here to me.

No offense Xmasta, but he is not asking what you would do, he is asking if something would work.

RandomHero, I would think it would work if Paul said he got a 4G63 one and it works fine in his 420a. I'm sure he will chime back in with a definite answer for you.

The thing about that is that on ExtremePSI.com where they have the pumps listed there is a link to 90-94 Eclipse and 95-99. There isn't a specific pump for 420a. Generally, all 2g's have very similar fuel pump mounting assemblies. The 1g assembly is significantly different. The pump however, looks similar in both generations, but like Randy said it's hard to tell through the Chilton. Randomhero, can you take a picture of the pump and send it to us, that way we can give you a more definite answer.

When ordering a 255 walbro make sure you know which one you are getting. There are 2 different ones. One is high higher pressure and one is not, but both at 255lph.

P/N GSS317: This is the one the Hahn kit now comes with. Requires no mods to the fuel pump bracket at all, direct fit. This is the baby 255.

p/n GSS347: This is the high pressure 255lph pump and will require drilling the bracket to allow the clamp to site 1/8" lower.

Thanks for helping to clear that up Terry.

Like I said in an earlier post, Walbros are universal units, and they will work for most all applications with little or no modification.

A 1G 4G63 pump will work just fine in a 2G 420A.

If you look carefully at the ExtremePSI.com product pages, you'll see that the GSS317 comes in both the 1G and 2G kits.

Terry,
Are you sure on the 255lph HP part #? I just received one and it shows GS342 stamped on the side of the unit, not GS347. All the paperwork I received indicates it's a Walbro 255lph HP model GS342.

Yes, I drilled a new hole in the lower support bracket about a 1/4" above the existing hole and it fit beautifully inside the tank. It also requires you to shorted the couple hose on the pump outlet about a 1/4" also so the two flared fittings nearly touch each other. My install shown in the pics was a 98 RS.

Support bracket needs moved down 1/4" for HP version of the 255lph pump.

GSS342 = Walbro 255lph HP...I'm sure that was just a typo by Terry :p

Dave, good catch, that was a typo and I am sorry if that lack of detail confused anyone. I have 342 on my spare pump in my garage, you are correct sir.
