Walbro 255hp add strain to engine..???

I just installed a Walbro 255hp and 750cc injectors... After installing everything and starting the engine, I notice at idle if I put foot on the brake the engine starts to sound like it is under heavy load... ( the belts whine a little, etc... similar to when you a/c turns on when your at idle..) If I raise the rpm's by stepping on the gas, the strain noise goes anyway... I find it hard to believe, but does the pump really draw that much more from the alternator/engine..???

No, your are probably too lean.

Umm its an electric pump. You could just be hearing the whine of the pump, I can heard my 190 if I stop and listen.

The 255 is a loud pump, thats probably what your hearing.

It could also be a tunning issue. The 255 is notorious for over running the stock FPR and making you run rich. This will cause the car to idle funny and do similarr things that you are talking about. With out a good AFPR then you may justhave to live with it.

I know its not the sound of the pump... I can hear the pump seperately when idleing... which is kinda loud, but its all good... I'm not sure what it is... I am waiting to install my 50 trim in a few days to tune.. Maybe once I tune it will stop... and an AFPR and new fuel rail is in the future, but for now I can't afford one... If anyone else has any suggestions.. keep posting... thanks again..

lemme take a stab at this.

so the engine seems to become under load when you apply the brakes at idle?

could it be the brake booster going out? i used to have a tbird and when i was at a stop, the pedal would depress about a inch and the brakes would lose pressure, and the engine would lose about 100rpm. i talked to my shop teacher and he said replace the brake booster, so i did and it never did that again.

just a hunch.
