Vr4 crazy

alright about a year or a year and a half ago, when I wasn't really intersted on eclipses and beefed up cars, I saw a dodge neon whith a crazy engine swap. I'm 99% sure it was a v6 vr4
not sure if it was the 2.5 v6 that galants have or the 3.0 3000gts have. and it was also bolted on a stock neon transmission. that thing was so fast could keep up with motorcycles. noe the idea has been drving me crazy these last months. I have asked a couple of my buddies to see if I can find that guy again. If what i beleieve its tru I'm going all out on that project. I know there are a lot of ifs and buts and sides where the engine faces. i can't find any material on the internet. If i find somethign i'll let everybody know. What do u guys think, help me figure this out. I have seen it done no lie, just dont remember the details.

If you can fit a 6 cyl in a 2g eclipse you are the man, go to 2gnt.com and search the fourm its been discussed before.

a 2.5 and or the 3.0 its not that big. and also the angle on the v shape is smaller. my concen is if it will bolt on on stock transmission without major modification

ok this is what i'm going to try to find out. if anybody has any info please help.


1. what kind of transmission do the dodge avengers with the v6 use, and the 4cyl autmatic . if those are the same or not.

2. if those are the same transmissions that means the bolt pattern is the same.
that means the eclipse transmission would bolt up too since the 4 cyl avenger shares the same 420A angine.

so we'll see if those match then we know we can put the 3.0 tt or the 2.5 tt whic most likely i would go with the 2.5.

1.) Count up how many V-6 DSMs you've seen on this board.

2.) Figure why.

It's not an engine installation. It's mounting a DSM on a V-6.

Bottome line, its possible but its going to cost you.... alot. Its it worth it? If you want something that is different from everyone else, or you are planning on doing a crazy turbo setup then ya. If you plan to leave the v6 n/a than do a turbo instead much more power and alot cheaper. BTW the 2.5 v6 comes with 160hp stock, almost what your car probally makes now.

I totally agree with and I know about the transmission but i'v seen the swap with a manual and I'm pretty sure it was a 5 speed dodge neon transmissin. I've asked my friends back in fort polk to find the guy who had the car, but I havent gotten an answe yet.

I don't know if you guys ever seen the 6A13, thats not the avenger or stratus V6. its still a 2.5 but is twin turbo alredy. 280-300 hp. some galants have that. thisnk about it if u had that on your eclipse with out transmission.

They dont make a 5spd for that motor. Neon, galant, what ever there isan't a 5spd for that thing. Go to www.exileracing.com they make turbo kits for avengers and stratus and they dont have anything 5spd. Plus the vr4 motor wont fit in our bay its too big, My friend has a vr4 and its crammed into that thing in the worst possible way. Forget about it, possible only if you have a large resource of money.
