after I put my new alternator in volts go from 14 to 17 back to 14 it pulses i unpluged top plug from the alternator and it stayed at a steady 16.7 volts any imput on how to fix this it makes everything pulse my idle to my headlights

battery is less than a month old but its been ran down a couple of times with my old altermator but it never has a problem starting plenty of power I will try a new alt and let you guys now how it works

Its the alternator, the regulator is bad. Most likely you bought auto part store crap that love to fail like that. Leaving that plug unplugged can also kill the regulator or if one of the wires are loose. So check that connection and make sure its ok.
