Vinyl Dye to use?

Can't guarantee that it won't crack, but have had good coverage and flexibility with Dupli-Color Vinyl and Fabric Coating. It says it's for dashboards, door panels, seats and carpet. Comes in several colors. Several auto parts stores carry it.

The surface prep is the reason I've posted. I can do good surface prep, but the vinyl flexing with ruin the purpose of surface prep if the dye or paint isn't good enough. I'd rather dye it since paint cracks and flakes.

I just dyed my entire interior black with SEM paints. Its more of a dye, but the adhesion process and prep work really makes it worth it. Itll scratch off if you try to scratch it off, but getting in the car if a shoe slides up against it, itll be fine. I did the vinyl insert in the door as well, and its still as squishy as it was without the dye (so it keeps the OEM "feel"), without cracking of anything. I put about five coats on and let it dry for a couple of days, so far NO flaking, NO cracks. If my shifter boot wasnt already black I would for sure use SEM dye. No chemical smell or rub off either, I swear by this stuff.

I cant tell you from experience, but I honestly think it would hold up. Not interesting in buying a black one? I saw one on ebay (I know, but it was OEM lether!) for like $30 I think?

I haven't been on ebay for some time. I would rather have a black one, but they are so hard to find. Even the tan ones are becoming hard to find. Found mine in the salvage yard.

I used the carpet spray by Dupli color, i steam cleaned and vaccumed the carpet first then sprayed 2-3 coats. Stuff works great and holds up...looks good too

It may hold up on carpet, but what about flexing, folding vinyl?

Sorry I can't chime in about what dye to use but if you want a black one I believe the 3g will also fit. According to this http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/appearance-interior-exterior/473639-spyder-convertable-top-cover.html
Might have better luck finding one of those. Good Luck either way.

I've heard about that too, but no luck finding a 3G spyder either.

Oh wow, I cant believe I did that sorry LOL. I know what you're talking about I just had..a moment. Sorry man
