I'm trying to buy injector seals/insulators, injector o-rings, and fuel rail o-rings to fix my boost leak, and the mitsu dealership said that they have to have a VIN to look up the parts.

Can someone provide me with a 2g GSX or GST VIN (either properly fabricated or one of their own). Don't know if there's a security issue with anyone giving this info out, but if you don't mind, I need it now. It's a 45 minute drive to the dealership, they close in 2 hours, and I still have to call the guy, give him the VIN, and see if he even has the parts. Otherwise, I waste a trip.

If you don't want it out here in the open, you can PM me.

Thanks!!!

I have a Talon, but he needed (or thinks he needed) a Mitsu VIN. There are no more Eagle dealerships. Would a Chrysler dealership have 2g Talon/Eclipse parts?
Are VINs different between Talon and Eclipse? If I can use my own and he's full of it, that's fine, too, but maybe he's not full of it.

go to a dodge or chrylser one and they can do it...i got keys made there with my vin after the police took mine..i'm assuming if they will make keys for an eagle they will find you parts as well...<3 mopar.

I just called the nearest Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep dealership/shop, and they looked up the o-rings and got some ungodly huge figure of $173 - for just the o-rings. He said that was not with new injectors (I asked).

Keep in mind that the Mitsu dealers are still Mitsu and the Chrysler are no longer Eagle. And the 2g was a Mitsu product. Also, not nearly as many Talons sold in the US as in Canada, so there aren't many '99 Talons still under warranty. They aren't going to stock those parts, but Mitsu will. Talons have no native home.:(

Guess nobody knows if a Talon VIN follows the same scheme as the Mitsu? And guess nobody is comfortable giving out a VIN. Anyone sell a 2g turbo and still have an insurance card with the VIN?

What a fuxin pain.

Thanks anyway.

Well, there wasn't any 99 talons:p
If you REALLY need a vin, look on ebay for someone who is selling their car or autotrader, but I can't imagine you would need, or want to do that, and I definetly don't advise doing it:nono: I can't imagine why the vins would be coded differently between the 2g's, leading me to believe they aren't.

Okay. I called the Mitsu dealership again and got a different guy in the shop who was less clueless. My VIN didn't work, but he knew how to look for the parts somehow (A MIRACLE!!). They had to order just about everything. Total $40 for injector o-rings and insulators and two FPR o-rings. He said it "wasn't showing and o-ring on the high pressure fuel line end." We agreed that this didn't make sense to not have a gasket or o-ring on a high pressure connection, but his system didn't show one nevertheless. So I had him order 2 FPR o-rings. Anyone know if they're the same? If not, I can order it online. Who carries them?

Thanks!

I would say it follows the same scheme. I went to a mitubishi dealer and gave them the code for my tsi and they were able to look at everything, and get me part numbers. If anything I wouldnt tell them it was for a talon and just give it to them and see if they can pull stuff up.

That Chrysler dealership was trying to hump you, any parts you order for a dsm at a Chrysler dealership will come from Mitsubishi. Every part I have ever ordered from the Chrysler Dealership my dad works at had mitsu packaging and came from an American mitsu parts depot.

I don't think he was dumb enough to try to pull one over on me (he didn't act/sound dumb). I had to describe everything I needed which should have told him that I knew something about the matter. I just think he was clueless about what he was searching for and ended up finding like a whole fuel rail or something. We got disconnected in the middle of "uh, $180 bucks for o-rings? I think not. You can get them online for $15." and I didn't call back. Instead I called Mitsu back and ended up talking to a more competent mechanic than on my first attempt, and Paul "Da Man" MitsuMechanic set me up.:thumb: That's my first trip to a Mitsu dealer, so atleast I know that I have that option (as long as Paul is there).
