Very odd tranny problem

I just purchased a used tranny. Drove the car around for awhile, was fine, then bam. 2nd grinds. So I took the car home, let it sit for 2 hours, messed around and made sure everything was tight. Take the car back out shifts fine. Then around about 30 minutes of driving it, 2nd grinds again. If I let the car sit for awhile then get back in it, 2nd wont grind unless you drive it for 30+ minutes at a time. I have had bg syncroshift 1 & 2 in the car. I now have pennzoil syncromesh in the car, still the same exact symptoms. Ive never heard of/read of this kind of problem. Any thoughts on how to make it shift smooth like it does within the first 30 minutes?

Sounds like the syncro is bad. No easy way fixing that without a new tranny.

The tranny oil is nice and thick while its cold, once it warms up it gets much thinner and it looses its ability to keep it shifting nicely.

Try some new fluid with a Quart of Lucas Gear oil, that stuff really works.

What do you think about using all Lucas gear oil in a manual transmission?

never tried it, Lucas reccomeneds you mix it with your oil. It might not have some of the lubricating capabilites that common oil does. Personaly I wouldnt try it, 1 quart works for me though.
