Alright so I have been having a issue with high oil pressure. Have no oil squirters/balanceshafts. Origionally I had a odd oil leak problem so I figured somthing wasnt put on right. I tore everything apart and there are no definite signs of a oil leak anywhere.

I then ported out the oil releif port on the OFH.
After that I still had a oil leak/seep.

THEN, I bought an aftermarket oil pressure gauge.

At Idle (warm) It sits between 25-30 psi..

At 3k it is at 75-80psi.

Oil looks like it seeps though the oil filter seal, and out the front case. And yes, I have tried a new oil filter and a whole oil change.

What else can I do to lower the pressure? Should I port it out more?

Since I have overall high oil pressure I was thinking of trimming the spring, but I know what ya'lls answer to that will be:banghead:

If I got a External Oilcooler OFH could that potentially lower the oil pressure?

Is there another oil filter that I could use that is less restrictive or bigger or somthing to releave some pressure?

Im stuck and pissed LOL. Somone please help!

That would be :hellyeah::rocks:

Remember your oil pressure will run a little higher in warmer temperatures and a little lower in colder temperatures. Also your pressure at idle will fluctuate a little depending on how hard you have been driving or not.

Take off oil filter housing. Port oil pressure relief valve, but not to much, enjoy the slightly less oil pressure. I went from 20 ~ 25psi at idle with 15w40 to about 15 ~ 20, and by 3 ~ 5k area no higher than 90.

You might try a lighter viscosity oil, although I think you are probably ok where you are as long as it doesn't climb higher. Or... try the spring clip like Justin said if you are confident in your port job.

What's your oil pressure at higher rpm's? Is that fully warmed up or just kind of warm?

At 4500 I am well into the 100's . (My gauge only goes to 100psi..)

And yes It is fully warm.

I am going to try porting the relief port a little more tomorrow, I thought I made it plenty big but I just found a carbide bit for the dremal so maybe Ill clean up the hole a bit.

Oh and I am using 10w-30.

You might wanna flip that statement around. Oil pressure is higher with colder oil, and vice versa. Hence why your oil pressure at idle when you first start the car is higher than after a few minutes after it's warmed up.

Ehhh...

I wouldn't go lighter than the 10W30 he is already using. Hell....I don't even like using 10W40 anymore. I'm pretty much 20W50 all the time. Go lighter and you start to risk losing oil pumps. No thanks. I understand the heavier oil is NOT going to solve his problem. Stick the squirters back in if you have to, along with trying to hog out the OFH as much as possible.

My bad...I thought he said he was running 10w-40 for some reason. But I agree...I wouldn't go lighter than 30.

Edit:

Actually now that I look back, I don't think the OP mentioned what he was running until after I posted that. Someone else mentioned 10w40. I must be starting to go senile. :D

Yes the other way around, sorry, I am done posting while watching a 3 year old. :(
