I dont know how viable this option is for venting, but it came to my mind while I was looking at my engine. Since i'm new to DSMs (but not to the secne), dont flmae to bad.

What about moving the MAS sensor up the intake tract near the throttle body? Kind of like Honda/Acura's? That way the BOV can vent, w/out messing up the airflow count? I'm sure it's probably been attempted and talked about on here...just a thought?

i still don't understand what's happening when people feel this "loss of power". so long as you're not shifting the bov is sealed and could care less whether its vented or not.

and fyi, when i shift at redline on my 16g i have no hesitation or stumbling. just the normal split second pause and then all the power i can handle all over again.
I agree I have both The 1g (Laser) and 2g Eclipse GSX vent to the atmosphere and I have no problems at all. I am also useing 1g (crushed)blow off valves.. The stock springs are set at 10-12 psi..So by crushing the BOV it stops any air from leaking, heince rough idle.. As for running rich no difference there either.. It's the same vented or not ,(as seen on data logger. As for the MAF metering the air flow into not out of the intake , the blow back tube is after the MAF not before..:thumb: The stock 1g's BOV don't sound bad either, they sound just as good/loud as $150 -$250 after market BOV...

Eclipse MAS can't meter pressurized air. There is no way it will measure correct flow.
There is VPC for it out there, which uses pressure sensor.

the blow back tube is after the MAF not before
Yep, that's what's supposed to cause rich condition. In stock setup, air vented by bypass valve is blown back into the intake after the MAS because it has already been 'accounted' for.

P.S. I vent as well with no problems besides ocasional stall when throttle is let off after a big blow-off, but I don't vent by choice, I just happened to get UIP with BOV welded to it for REALLY cheap...

hahahaha..... i can't beleive this post is still going.... it's simple. some cars can vent to the atmosphere without problems( like mine ) or some can not... like my friends DSM's. it's hard to explain.

I think that this thread has gone on long enough. Every issue has been discussed and re-discussed and re-discussed.

Everyone can see the resoning behind venting or not-venting.

There is enough info here that people can read this thread and make there own decision.
