valve tap???

i think i have a valve tap....i here a ticking in my engine back and the rate of it increases as i open the throttle....what can i do? how bad is this?

Im pretty sure thats not you valves tapping, your car would be running like shit. Its most likley you lifters ticking. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=118213

Is it more of a ticking sound or a tapping sound. My tapping sounds turned out to be an out of round rod. Yea i had just rebuilt the motor from a spun rod bearing. The engine lasted for a year thanks to the clevite 77 bearings and then it spun again, but i fixed it right this time. No thanks to the dealer who sold me an out of round ROD.. JERK..not totally his fault tho. I should have checked it.

Yeah, DSMs have a little ticking with the lifters. You can easily get those replaced by buying 3g lifters for $105 on ebay. If it is too loud of a knocking, most likley its a bearing usually resulting in an engine rebuild.
