Hagerstown,
Alright guys, here is a comfusing problem. My car will tap intermiitenty. It is not a loud tap but when it does it it sounds like valve tap. But after a couple of minutes the tap will go away....
I am thinking oil pressure might be messed up.

please help...

thanks

Is it worse when the car is cold? When your oil level is low? Can you hear it clearly putting a screwdriver to the valve cover and listening? There aren't enough details to be sure, but I would bet it's just standard DSM lifter tick. Search the forums for "lifter tick" and you'll find lots to read.

You are right. Lack of oil presssure do to bad oil, wrong oil, bad or old oil filter, need a system flush, etc.................

My ticking sound was a leaking hydraulic timing tensioner, it was loud in the cool mornings, but quiet in the afternoon.

Maybe check it out if you think it might be.
