Valve Cover Problem

hey, sorry if this is a repeat post but i couldn't find anything with a search.

I am trying to replace the valve cover gasket, spark well gaskets, and halfe circle gasket but i can't get the valve cover to come off. I took out 7 screws from near the spark plugs and 8 from the outer cover. I tryed hitting it around with a rubber mallet but it won't budge. Any suggestions?

You have to pry it off *very* carefully.

ok, i got it. i had to use a philips screw driver and tap it in with the rubber mallet.
