Today, the metal pipe that comes out of the passenger side of the valve cover disappeared on me. It was a 90* pipe with a small filter on it, and it never held in there very well, and it went bye bye while driving today. I do have another valve cover with a straight pipe on it, but it will not come out and I do not want to break it off. How do I go about removing this and installing it properly on the good valve cover? I am going to be adding a catch can this time also, I am getting a bit of oil out of that port. Thanks!

my question is why would you want to swap that thing in the first place? they work the same regardless of being the elbow style or not....and if your worried about filters and lines falling off it why dont you use a small screw on clamp?

To remove nipples I always prefer to heat the object the nipple is in so it will expand then remove with pliers. You will waste way too much energy fighting the nipple with pliers to get it out without heat.
