Vacume line question

When removing the emissions vacume lines can you just plug the nipples on the EGR valve instead of using a blockoff plate. I have heard of people leaving it on there without pluging it but I figure that if the nipples are unplugged. That could be another place to "leak" from.

block it off,make a plate outta metal. If you don't bock it off, why do it?

I would block it off if I had the proper tools and stuff to do it with but right now I am at school so those tools are 200 miles away. So can I just plug the EGR valve until I make a plate?
