Yes there are JDM 7 bolts. No there is no difference. IMO the US ones are better.

As kwALK stated, there is no difference between the US domestics and the Japanese domestics created for the eclipse. There are variations created for other vehicles and this is most likely what you will receive if you order a "JDM" engine.

There is quite a bit of documentation on this sort of scam. This includes the cyclone intake systems that are advertised. These came on some Galant models and will not work appropriately without the supporting systems and provide no gains without them.

The primary reasoning for the swap is that Japanese emissions controls demand that vehicles often be retired much sooner than US engines. The advertised 60,000 miles is never verified, and is only based on the average lifespan of vehicles. This does not mean that the engines have obtained any less wear. The rural roads in many areas of Japan are in significantly poorer condition than the majority of US roads, causing accelerated degradation of engine components and eventual failure to pass emissions.

Main reason I say that the USDM motors are better is because we don't quite have as bad "stop and go" traffic as they do in japan. When they state the motor has 30-60k miles on them, it's really more like 80-100k in their conditions. Hence why they always say highway miles are alot better than city.

Before my engine was blown when a certain oil change company unscrewed my oil spindle and I dumped all the oil going down the freeway, I had 213k original miles. This baby still had 150 across the board and pulled like it was new. Commuter miles put very little wear on engines with a whole lot of miles. I was driving 500 miles a week average, not including the occasional road trip every three months that would put an extra 500 miles a day.

My car has 208,000 miles. Not the original motor (previous owner broke a timing belt) but he drove 50 miles each way to work. 500 miles, a week just for work. It was all highway. I'm sure most JDM motors don't see that easy cruising.
