Hey all here I got a lil problem wit my 96 GSX... its got a 6 bolt 50 trim turbo, SAFC NEO, 680cc injectors or 660's whatever... Ok here is the problem anytime I go UPHILL and give it about 20-30% throttle and making about from anywhere 5inches of mercury (vacuum) up to 5 lbs of boost (usually 0-3lbs) my caar just stutters like its hitting fuel cut. All of the lights on my Air/Fuel gauge (not a wideband) light up and it will just keep stuttering until I push the clutch in, let it stall, and then let the clutch out and catch it in gear then it runs fine again. It will also run fine under WOT making 14lbs of boost. Keep in mind this only happens when going uphill. I duno what it is so... anyone have any suggestions would be great!

Thanks,

Sean Rogers

Your not going to like what I suggest but its IMPERATIVE that when you start playing with the turbocharged cars fuel system you get a wideband o2 sensor. I know the cheapest WB is $200 and a regular old narrowband gauge is just over $50 but it tells you nothing.

Give the car a good boost leak test and order a WB o2 sensor.

it could be that your combination of fuel system/SAFC/weight of the car or how your SAFC is set up.. when you drive up a hill as compared to driving on flat land you create more of a load on the engine (steeper hill= more load). this means that the ECU will have to look at a different part of the fuel map that may be rich already and with those large injectors and your SAFC it may just be compounding the problem. like the last person said, you may not want to hear it but you really need a WB and a way to log the ECU to tell what is going on.
