Upgrading spark system...worth it or not?

It seems like the DSMs are fitted up with some decent ignition components, sufficient enough to handle decent power, but I'm curious. I've had a set of Taylor Thundervolt wires for about 3 years now...that's all. I'm looking into maybe just upgrading the coil or going with the full MSD DIS system. These ignition systems always claim to assist in obtaining better gas mileage (these days, that'd be awesome) due to more efficient sparking...but is that a fact or a mere theory? I had the MSD 6AL in my 2k ITR and I didn't see any change in gas mileage at all. I did see a performance increase in the higher RPMs (9,000-10,500RPMS) but I never rev my GS-T past 6K. Obviously a N/A Type R & a Turbo Eclipse are totally different so i'm looking for some feedback.
 
Well I went from stock to the DIS II mearly for the price I got hte Dis II for and for the 2 step option if I want to play. I have noticed no power increase or gas mileage increase to speak of. In my opinion other then the coolness of the 2 step at a stop light its not going to do enough for mileage to make it worth the retun.
 
You might see some performance gains at absurd power and rpm levels. For the road, in spirited street driving, it's money best spent elsewhere. The stock DSM system is excellent.

One interesting detail is that the stock sparkplug is the dual-electrode EKN, while virtually everyone with a clue just uses normal projected-tip BPR6ES plugs. The stock system may be able to more-effectively drive the single electrode, although I've never understood how a dual-electrode plug could ever jump spark to the redundant electrode. So far as I grasp, once a current has found its path, it's not keen on diverging from it.
