ok here is what im about to order from dejontool:

1gDSM 2 1/4 to 2 1/2" Blow Thru SMIC Upper Pipe
#UIP-1gD1

2-3/4" VPC Intake Pipe (1gDSM)
#CIP-1gD

K&N 3" outlet Air Filter
#K&N re0930

HKS welded flange

That comes out to be $388.85 and im getting a hks ssqv from EDO Performance for $182. they seemed to have the lowest price but what i want to know am i going in the right direction? and also has anyone dealt with EDO performance.

alright i just ordered the exhaust. i got the o2 eliminator turbo back 3 inch all the way back and 4 inch ss tip. damn thing is expensive. came out to be $729. i might have to hold off on the intake for now but ill keep ya guys updated. thanks for all the help.

3" Turbo back + stock turbo = boost lag like a mo fo.
Port /upgrade manifold asap!

What are you talking about? Opening up the airways = Faster spool up

No way bro. It's just fine unless it's cracked. 1g's exhaust manifolds are known to crack and they flow substantially less then 2g's. Yes upgrading to a 2g manifold some day would be a good idea if your trying to get more power but it's definitley not nescesary. Just bolt up the exhaust. Oh and damn man that was way more then I thought it would be! Geese. Anyway no you don't need to change the manifolds. You will be increasing boost response just by bolting up that whole system. You are really gonna feel the differen man. You will like it. Turbo 4G63's sound so awesome with a good free flowing exhaust!:thumb:
 
hey guys well i just ordered the stuff from dejontool for the maft venting setup except havent ordered the gm maf as im getting one of ebay probably. i got the 2 1/2" intake pipe with k&n filter, got those uicp pipes that you showed me sk8er and got the maf translator. i had a question. i recently had my engine replaced becasue mechanic forgot to put drain plug back and seized my engine. engine has 32k on it and the turbo makes a weird high pitched whining noise when boosting. i told him about this and he said they will just probably put my old one back on. whats worng with it is that it is consuming a lot of oil. is there a disadvantage to it doing that other than eating up my oil? i mean performance wise.

Oh man that's so bad ass! I want that MAS setup soo bad! Do you notice your car smoking while it's boosting? Could you descride the sound a little better? I mean all turbo's are going to whistle like when you here a diesel truck accelerate you can here the turbo spool. It makes a whistling sound. If it's a whistle thats cool don't worry about it, but if it's somethin else then it could be a problem. Are you keeping an eye on your oil level? Keep trake of that so you can see if your car is consuming oil. If it is consuming oil how much? It definitley could be a bad turbo. I would be better if it's your turbo thats consuming the oil rather then your engine. If you have oil blowing by your piston rings then yes that is going to harm performance. If it's your turbo that could also harm performance since that is a sign that it's going out it's probably not running at maximum performance. Also watch that oil pressure gauge. But descride the problem one more time...
 
ok well for one my oil pressure gauge isnt working right now becasue when mechanic replaced engine he said that the cinders or whatever they are need to be replaced. they will be doing that monday because they were closed for the holidays so im not sure about the oil pressure. now as for the sound im hearing i know its not normal. the best i can describe it is when i start boosting its like a high pitched chirping noise like there a short space between each chirp like clicking but instead of a click its a chirp. ahh i hope im making sense. anyways i dont seem to be losing any oil at all with this turbo. but my question is that would a chirping turbo be better than a turbo that consimes oil becasue the one on my old engine consumes oil and yes there is smoke with that one but the only time i noticed was when i was on the highway going about 80 and i was in 5th and floored it a lot of smoke came out of my exhaust.
 
If your oil pressure guage isnt working I wouldnt even start the car. Get that fixed first. Its not worth the risk to starve the engine. Could have a bad pump or just the sending unit might need replaced. I'm guessing you have a mechanic do all the work for you right? He should know how to check if its just the sending unit or the pump itself so let me know if i need to explain that.

About the turbo. It could be on its way out. Pop the hood and stand over the engine and listen next to the turbo while someone revs it or while you rev it by hand at the throttle body. If it makes any kind of unusual sound (you will know when you hear it) it is probably on its last leg. Pull of the intake pipe and check for shaft play. If possible pull off the turbo completely and inspect it for damaged fins. You deff want to get this and the oil burning problem figured out before you start adding power.
 
It is kind of scary to run your car without an oil pressure gauge but millions of cars don't have oil pressure gauges. If your car has made it this far then I think it's ok but it's just kinda scary when your used to seeing your oilpressure gauge work and all of a sudden it doesn't. As for the burning oil problem, that could be a number of things. From what I understand was that your current setup is not burning or consuming oil right? It's your old turbo that leaks right? So is it just the noise, and thats the only problem? If it's just the noise I would do what roast beef said about checking the turbo for shaft play and the physical appearance of the fins. Let me know whats up...
 
ya your right sk8er, i dont have any oil issues right now its with my old turbo that i do. thanks alot for the info roast beef. and also i seem to hold 11 psi all the way up to about 5.8 rpms then it goes to about 10. thats not a problem is it? and also do i just pull off the intake to check for shaft play? ive never done this before.

hmmm well i just went out to see how to take the intake off is thats what i need to do to look for shaft play and i look at the turbo and it says TD04 on it. bastard mechanic put a 13g in my car other than the 14b and my car is manual so i know i had the 14b. LOL i guess im going to put that old one back on no matter what if theres no real problems with it.
 
alright i just received all my intake ad intercooler stuff and maft translator. only thing im missing now is the gm maf which will be here friday. heres a pic of the stuff.

mmmm sexy! Dude I seriously would go back to that mechanic and bi*** them out for putting a smaller turbo on your car. I would demand that they do it right.

You are right to check for shaft play just pull off the intake pipe and wiggle the shaft. It shouldnt move, if it does you have bad bearings. Also check to see if there is any oil residue on the inside of the intake pipe. If there is a lot your turbo is shot and needs replaced.
 
Oh dude thats so sweet man! That sucks about the turbo man. boy. When you put on that 14b + intake + IC pipes + less restrictive GM MAS & MAFT + FULL 3 INCH TURBO BACK! All I can say is wow.... :thumb: It makes me sad that I don't have that yet! :cry: Oh anyway what ever happend with the exhaust man? Any pics of that? Have you recieved it yet? Oh yeah and I just wanted to say thats cool that your getting into your car man! I can tell you didn't know much when you first came in here and now I can tell you have learned alot. That's awesome. For some reason I just hate in when people take there honda's to a mechanic to put on an intake... Right on for doing it the right way the first time! Hope you don't have any problems with the install. And, are you going to reuse the 1g bov? Whoops. took another look at your pic and it looks like you are. Cool great bov and sounds good too. When you start to raise the boost level you can mod it so it doesn't leak. But you shouldn't have to do that for a long time.
 
heh ya i have a few freinds that are going to help me get all this stuff on. except i dont know about the maft translator looks a little hard to hookup. ya i ordered the exhaust and everything. i havent received it yet and im actually getting a modded bov from jbillakdsm, just trading him my old one and paying about $15 for the difference. sounds good to me. also am i going to have everything to hook up the uicp and all that because on that picture you showed me with the whole setup it looks liek there are some type of adapters on each side of the gm maf but i may be wrong. ill keep ya updated on what happens.
 
no you have everything you need. Dejon tool even sent you a gasket! I never got one of those. you don't need an adapter. the openings on the pipes where the gm mas goes are 3 inch and so is the gm mas assuming you get the 3 inch mas which you should. 3.5 is over doing it. you have to 3 inch couplings right? you just put one of those on each side and clamp them down. As far as the maft, vfaq does have an install for the maft but the link is dead so that doesn't help at all. I think one end plugs into the harnes that your old mas is connected to and the other is connect to the gm mas. It's just plug and play man. Just find a good spot to mount the unit. some people cut the wires and extend them so they can mount the maft box inside the car. Others just mount it to the fuse box.
