I have a walbro 255hp, 550 injectors, and a AFPR staring at me waiting to be installed. My only issue is, a shop still has my ECU with dsmlink on it. I wont have time to get it for another week or so, but I am wanting to install these this weekend if possible.

Should I be patient and wait on link, or is it safe to install the 3. Currently only running 7-8lbs of boost with no MBC hooked up.

You can install the AFPR and Walbro without issues, but the 550cc injectors would cause you to run rich without some sort of tuning device.

One way to offset that temporarily would be to lower your base fuel pressure with your AFPR to lower than the stock 42 psi (with vacuum line disconnected).

Basically you would set your base fuel pressure to around 30psi in order to make the 550cc injectors flow closer to 460cc. You can see how to calculate that here:

RC Fuel Injection

I would also highly recommend having a wideband to tell you if you are where you should be or not.

Honestly, with the 255lph pump, I don't know if you would be able to set it that low, but that is what you would want to do until you get Link back. Then you can set the base fuel pressure back up to whatever you are tuning for.

Ya, when I go to pickup the ECU, the shop is also wiring my innovate WB into the ECU "Gauge in, just not hooked up". I might go ahead and just do the fuel pump and AFPR then.

If you plan on running a stock ECU you could put in the fuel pump and AFPR but not the injectors. You would have to run the stock injectors until you get your ECU with dsmlink back so you can dial in the larger injectors.

Everything you listed takes MAYBE 2 hrs to install. Wait until your ECU gets back and do it all at once. Why mess with changing your base fuel pressure and all that other crap if it isn't going to help you right now. Wait.

This is what I was thinking, but everyone knows that feeling of having some new parts just sitting there :p.

Running alittle richer is better than running lean.[/QUOTE]

And running to rich tends to wash out piston rings. From experience, just be patient and wait. It'll be worth it in time. :thumb:

Install them. Set your fpr to stock. You will run a little bit richer because of the bigger injectors but that all good. Adjust that when you get link.

Running alittle richer is better than running lean.

If only there were some other choice besides rich or lean...
