car is 2g!
Dang! I might catch hell for this but I did do my search. Im just computer technically decline/ retarded. Im looking into loggers because that's like the first few things you need to get before running your car hard. Thats what I've been learning from you guys!
Now I've found this helpful thread.
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/230375-list-loggers-info-tech-article.html
But Im still puzzled.
Which palm should I get?

My question is... What do you guys log with. Like what brand I mean? Is their any out there that is more popular then the other!
So I guess you need... that hand held thingy, logger, pda I guess. Then the software. And then the connecting wire from pda to obdII, right, just three things?WTF...
Im totally confused. What I think im sure of is that you need the logger for a 2g, right?:hmm:

Help would be great!:sosad:
Not to mention all the old threads on here, when I click to the link in the thread... It says forbidden. I guess it's to old!

Most of the systems I've seen are fairly easy to use, as long as you are basically educated about tuning.

DSMLink is the best in my opinion.

Its easy to use, they supply the cords and the program. All you do is send in your ECU, and they put their chip on it and send it back.

ECMTuning, Inc.

I forgot they changed their name to ECM Tuning.

For a 2G, the best deal going is either EVOSCAN or MHIScan, if you have a laptop to log with. MHIScan is free, but you get support with EVOSCAN. On a 1997+ ECU you will get 100+ samples per second. PM me for more information or a cable.

First you should decide if you want to use a palm or a laptop and go from there.
Of course I would say you should invest your money towards ECMlink.

If you want to go cheep - get a cable and palm m100 (or better) and download a free app. (MMCd is supper easy) You wont have a ton invested and will feel comfortable to just leave it in the car.

In both my 2g and my buddys 1g's we use a plain jane palm m100 with the correct cables and i just loaded mmcd 1.5 and plamstien. Between the two u can do all the logging you want. if you plan on going with dsmlink it has a built in datalogger. Correct me if i'm wrong but with v2 of dsmlink theres a program that u can even use a Palm to tune and datalog with, i'm not sure if the program works with the new v3 though.

Most loggers, like PalnStein and Pocketlogger, are generic OBDII loggers, so they can't give you the level of information available through EVOSCAN, MHIScan, or DSMLink. You can log knocksum, MDP and other sensors, all the fueltrims, and much, much more.
$20-$25 for a logger + MHIScan is a whole lot cheaper than $600 if all you need to do is log.
$45-$50 and you can get a cable and EVOSCAN, which comes with support and updates, as well as the ability to log your friends Mitsus and Subarus.

Ha! This left me in more baffle then I thought! So after checking up on some of the software it think it was that you guys are mentioning. The one that caught my attention was
EvoScan OBDII Mitsubishi MUTII DataLogger Scantool
But I guest it's for laptops only. And yes, like Dave asked. I will prefer a pda instead cause due to it's size and I don't really want to dish out another couple hundred for a laptop.
Now Im targeting somewhere around what 95gskid and jeffo said.
If this gets to hard. I might have you guys do my homework for me and just point me in the direction of a kit!:tease:

Maybe to ease your guys help. Im just targeting low 13's with a mhi big16g. Now, with just a pda and whatever software. Will that be good enough to just know where Im at or do I need to get something more sophisticated and detailed? "Great, Im just digging myself a bigger hole."
Thanks for the reply! Much appreciated!:applause:

Aight guys. I've just found something that got me REALLY REALLY interested.

EvoScan OBDII Mitsubishi MUTII DataLogger Scantool

All the way down. Now is that worth it. I mean it's so convenient. Is that like basically having that THINGY(like the new nissan gtr, where it has all the display parameters) That is just for the screen thingy right no software to log with??????Damn I feel stupid!
"ONlY IF I COULD LOG WITH AN IPOD!"
