Two simple questions, since I dont know.

1: What is the line in the below picture supposed to be plugged into?

I see no place for it to plug into anything.

2: In that same picture, there is a small, rubber boot looking thing.. Right in the same area as the shift linkages.

What is that?

Sorry about being a touch vague on those two things, but I have ZERO idea what they are.

The wiring is for the reverse light switch. Should be a sensor somewhere on the top of the tranny for it to plug into.


The rubber boot you refer to is a vent for the bellhousing. It is normally pointed down but it is only there to keep debris from entering the bellhousing/clutch area.

No that wiring plug plugs onto the thermostat housing and yea that tube on the trans is a vent

i think its the coolant temp sensor (my wires were cut to it rendering it unusable) mike is right u probably are pullin a check engine light right?

The plug looks like the coolant temp sensor. The other is just a vent for the bell housing.

No.. no CEL unless the previous owner pulled the bulb cause it annoyed him.

I will check that tomorrow.. Storming outside a bit right now, and I don't want to get struck by lightening while working under the hood of my car..
