Ok, I really want to upgrade my turbo from the FP Green. Everyone seems to be having goodluck with the 3065 but it would be to expernsive for me to use. I would need to get the custom o2 and replace my rnr elim dp with another dp. Is there a similar turbo that is just as good but is able to mount of the mitsu manifold and use the stock o2?

GT35R is about as close as you'll get.

AMS sells a PTE non BB version of the 3065 called the SC61, well close enough to the 65. They even offer the WG flange on the hotside.

Goodluck calling and asking AMS questions. Every time I have emailed them, I felt like I was talking to my grandpa. "uh, huh, i think, or"

Have you thought about upgrading your green to a RED? that could be a option that you might be looking past, that would be cheaper then buying anyother turbo.....hince you already have the cartridge

i didnt even know PTE made dual ball-bearing turbos w/ mitsu housing. PTE has a good rep so i dont see why this product would be as good as there standard bearing turbos :thumb:
They dont, they make housings and slap them on Garrett CHRA's.

Thank for all of the info guys, I think I have enough information now. Also, about upgrading the green, when I was talking to FP about it, they never mentioned that option. I was always under the impression I would need to buy a new turbo to upgrade to the red. I will have to give them a call and see what they say.

Please elaborate further on your last comment there.............

it could be comparable if you look at it price vs. performance...

FP 3065 from FP IF you buy all the parts from them turbo, 40mm tial, 3" o2 housing

$2,093

PTE SCM-61 internally gated

$899

$1,194 difference in price thats alot of money that could be spent elsewhere

both turbos are getting about the same dyno numbers the FP just has a slightly quicker spool up time.

I emailed last week asking about a sc61. I'll just give you the emails...

What A/R do you offer these in? Is the TO4s housing available? How
much extra is the WG feature on the housing?

Please give me all the information you can.

Thanks

-------------Oct 25--------------

For the SC61 we offer that in a .63 and a point .86 I believe. I will have
to check on the T04 housings but I am almost certain they can be had. By
wastegate feature do you mean having the exhaust housing drilled out to
accept a Wastegate on the O2 housing?

Yeah, right on your website you say you offer the exhuast housing to
accept a WG. Check to make sure on that housing and A/R ratio for me.
I'm close to making a purchase, but I want to make sure I get exactly
what I want this time. I got burned HARD from SBR last year and I
don't want it to happen again.

Thanks

No reply since then. You can clearly see Eric doesn't know what he's talking about, and could really care less to email me back. Great customer service. Shit like that makes me want to spend my 1000 dollars elsewhere, which will probably happen thanks to that.

I will personally vouch for Eric Jones that he knows what the #### he's talking about. It really doens't matter to me if you have a clue or not, Eric is well known, and even though he can be a bit wierd at times (let alone how he looks :D), he knows what he's doing. I know him on a personal level (long before he ever worked for AMS), and he has helped me with NUMEROUS issues I've had building and tuning my car. Just because he doesn't know what a/r housing they sell doesn't mean he won't put you to shame on DSM trivia or building an engine.

BTW, Eric G is either Eric Gash from Horsepower House (90GSX) or Eric #1 from AMS (I don't know his last name though.)

aight colin lets break this down. :thumb: he was emailing AMS not HPH so I would have to assume Gash is not going to be replying to the emails. :D

Then he's bitching at the wrong Eric, because Eric #2 is not Eric G. Nonetheless, he's still barking up the wrong tree.

If you would reread a few posts up, you'd see I wasn't bitching Eric #2, I was doing what he asked me to; elaborate on my statement about AMS.

The "Eric G" that emailed me back was Eric Gaudi at AMS. Why you are talking about a Eric Jones at HPH is beyond me.

Ive only seen SC61s and GT35Rs come with .63 T3 exhaust housings so far. By wastegate he means the exhaust housing can come witih a hole already drilled to mount an external wastegate on the O2 housing. The internally gated option is only available on the SCM Mitsuibshi bolt up turbos.

T4 exhuast housings are available, but most have either a V clamp or 4 bolt discharge, forcing you to make provisions for your wastegate either off a header runner or in the header collector.

Eric Gash works for HPH.
Eric Gaudi is the sales manager for AMS.
Eric Jones (me) is a technican for AMS. You can also call me Kentucky Chrome, thats my porno name. :D

Sorry for the confusion. If you were in our shoes and had to try to man the massive amounts of phone calls and emails you would probibly understand. If you have any questions that go unanswered by accident, feel free to ask me on here or PM me. Im happy to help whenever I can.

Sorry about the confusion. I am the incompitent Eric G from AMS. Your Questions were a bit Vague and I answered them to the best of my ability at the time. The website was made over a year ago by an offsite person and since then we have found MANY errors on it. It is in the process of being completely redone. All the SC61's that I have sold have been .63 so the .86 option was something I had to look into. As far as using a TO4 housing...again it had not been done as of yet. I have to answer 250 plus phone calls a day and over 100 emails. I do the very best that I can and sometimes people get lost in the shuffle. You could of simply resent your email and I would of gotten back to you. Again I am sorry for the wait.

as far as a turbo similar to the FP 3065 The SC61 is close but I think the GT35R is much closer. Both are dual ball bearing but the GT35R puts out more power because of the larger exhaust housing. We sell the GT35RLS (S cover) for $1299.00 I have this exact turbo on my personal car and it made 580 HP on 26/27 lbs of boost on a 2.3. Spool time is amazing even on 2.0. we hit 20lbs on our evo before 4000 rpm. I recomend this turbo to everyone that looks for big power. The SC61 was ahead of its time a year ago but since then bigger and better things have made headway.

The FP 3065 uses the 700177-0014 CHRA from Garrett, same as our GT14... however his turbine housing has a larger A/R as ours is approx .60 on the turbine side.

The PTE SCM61 is more similar to the GT35R... same compressor side as the -14, however larger turbine wheel... and most of us sell this turbo under $900.00 which is a bargain for this type of performance. This turbo is not a BB unit. They use a .63 A/R turbine housing.

Both PTE and SBR's turbine housing bolt up to stock manifold and o2 housing.
