Well I'm doing a project on my own with my 98 galant so I decided to put a 14b on it.
I've got most of the information on how to put it on covered and what goes where, but there's only 1 thing I still don't get: Vacuum lines
Where do you connect the vacuum line comming from the accutator, and where do you connect the one comming from the BOV?

Sorry if this is a repost, I just couldn't find any info when I searched.
Any help would be appreciated.

according to this, there is nothing going onto the nipple on turbo housing
i'm talkin about a 14b turbo
so my guess for a setup without mbc would be: BOV to intake, and waste gate acutator to the turbo housing
but if you put the mbc, what do you do with the nipple on the housing, cap it off?

14b's don't have nipple's on the housings. If you don't have a mbc you will need to hook the line to some source of pressure. If you are installing a 14b that means you are using a j-pipe. Just install it on the nipple there to run wastegate pressure.

that's how my turbo looks right now

the red pipe on the left has a nipple on it, so could I hook up the wastegate to it?

ok, got it now
thx a lot man

any suggestions for the mbc, any of them better than others?

Joe P, Hallman, TurboXS. What you want to look for is a good ball-and-spring unit. Those will provide the quickest amount of spoolup versus some cheap bleeder-valve unit.

If you're going with an electronic boost controller, Greddy's Profec-B is the best bang for the buck, and simplest to use.

i wanna put in the mbc...so i was wondering which ones are good

so i should go with ball and spring?
i was looking at some voodo mbc's

i would not 't' off of the bov line for a pressure source for the mbc/wastegate, but come off the nipple on the 'j' pipe.

i'm confused a lil' bit now

@FORMONTOYA
should I then just connect the BOV to the intake pipe? and T - off the wastegate, mbc, and j-pipe together

For a MBC you always tee into the bov return line because it see's vacuum at idle and when you are off the gas. You only run from the wastegate to the j-pipe if you want to run spring pressure of the wastegate. Usually 9-10 lbs.

i would tend to disagree...

In the first post he doesn't have a 14b. He has an upgraded turbo. 14b's don't have nipple's on the compressor housing. Just on the j-pipe and you can't use that for a MBC. In the second one they are refering to a T25 not a 14b. Completely different turbo. If he had a T25 then yes he could do that. In the third one he is trying to boost off of a T25 again PLUS a stock 2g BOV which won't hold the pressure anyways. And in the 4th post they are talking AGAIN about a T25 plus that picture isn't of a 14b or T25 it's an aftermarket Garret. Your move...

Once AGAIN T25 not 14b. I ran my MBC on my 2g off of the compressor housing. Not the 14b though.

please explain the difference between running off of the compressor housing and the 'j' pipe as a pressure source, and why you can use the compressor housing but can not use the 'j' pipe nipple. not trying to be an ass, but i just don't grasp the concept that there is a difference.

I honestly couldn't tell you why not but when I tried hooking my MBC up to the j-pipe nipple it wouldn't work at all. Tried both way's and it wouldn't come off of stock boost.

Your problems weren't because of using the nipple on the j-pipe. They are used all the time and it's how mine is installed. I prefer using it over the BOV or intake because the short lengths of hose involved helps cut down on boost spikes.

Thanks steve. I wasn't sure so I thought I would call for backup LOL.

i guess i should just run the bov vacuum line to the intake, and T-off the mbc with j-pipe and wastegate?
