Turbo Upgrade Or Not

I OWN A 91 TALON tsi awd (automatic) and i came across a free 14b turbo with zero shaft play and i was wondering could i run it with stock internals with noticeable throttle response. i heard auto's have 390's in them so i was just wondering if it would even be worth putting it in without hurting my car at all.

( i do not have a tuning tool at all)

I'd say go for it, if it's as good as it sounds. If you don't use it, you could probably sell it to someone for like $60. Just don't get yourself in too deep. Make sure you know how to swap out a turbo, so if you DO decide to get it, it won't be a negative thing for you.

Not quite for sure how to do the swap but i'm decently mechanically inclined i have done alot to my car since 1/20/06 and i knew nothing, but if it is hard give me the heads up if i should find someone to help me.

It isn't too hard, but that's for me. I suggest you get a Haynes or Chiltons manual for further work on the car. Even a factory service manual, but those are expensive! I'd say you just get it, then once it's in your possession, learn more about the car and throw it on when you feel comfortable.

i just bought this cd off ebay for these cars its suppse to have tons of info and lots of pics and walk through explanations so i'll do just that i'll look and if i dont feel comfortable get someone to do it for me. Does anybody think it will be decent throttle response difference...

I acquired this turbo from my best freind who just left for the military and he sold his car to some guy who scammed him and said his turbo was going out so he went out and bought a brand new and put it on the car, then the guy transfers all info into his name and calls my buddy up and said basically i screwed you it wasnt bad at all...So he just gave it to me before he got deployed.

You will need the oil supply and return lines, coolant supply and return lines, and banjo bolts and crush washers from a 14b equipped car. Be careful not to tighten the banjo bolts too tight, they will break off if you do.
