Hey guys, I was just wondering, how important is having a front mount prior to adding on a 16g turbo. I'm planning on getting both a b16g upgrade and front mount eventually, just not sure which first. All of my friends are telling me to get the front mount first, but Im just wondering what you guys think.

Definitely get the front mount first. That way when you do get the turbo you will have the IC to be able to maximize it. Also, you will pick up some power with your t25 in the meantime.:thumb:

Actually the turbo should be one of the last things you get for the car. Why not get your fuel system taken care of first? **660cc injectors, walbro 255 fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, super afc or DSM link** I personally think its the ricer thing to do if you buy a fmic and not have a big turbo to match it. I also think its a ricer thing if you buy a big turbo and no supporting mods. Seriously though, if you have the money for the turbo/fmic you can put that money to the supporting mods first.

I have a 3in DP right now, no ported mani tho..The last thing I was thinking when I decided on a frontmount was rice, but I guess everyone thinks differently. I just want to get all my supporting mods cleared away before I put the actual turbo in.

You don't need a front mount at all on a 16G turbo. I went 12.90's on the stock sidemount and 12.50's on a Dejon sidemount. While an FMIC is a great idea down the road, putting one on your T25 will actually offer no performance advantage. In fact, the T25 doesn't flow enough volume to heatsoak the stock unit. You can do things however you like, but I went this way (keep in mind that I already had a 3" exhaust and a 2100 clutch)

Big 16G stock fuel injectors and pump: 14-15 psi
Add a 190 pump: 17 psi
Add injectors and a method to control them: 20-22 psi
Add a larger sidemount or FMIC: 22-24 psi

These are general numbers and you should always run a logger for the best results to detect knock.

Good luck!

Andy

If it came down to adding either a fmic or a 16g only, I would go for the 16g. Reason is, while the front mount may help you with the t25, just adding any 16g w/ stock intercooler even at stock boost levels will be much more fun than a t25 with front mount.

Hmmm very interesting point. I guess I'll look into the turbo before I go for my frontmount.

I would say get the 16g also. I had only a 16g, exhaust, ported mani, and layed down a couple 2g's with frontmounts on only 10psi! Of course they all where t-25's, and my car is pretty lightened.
